About This Course

Once you have completed your Certificate II in Security Operations, this is the course that you must complete to add the Cash-in-Transit function to your security licence.

If you wish to gain the knowledge and practical skills to work effectively as a Cash in Transit (CIT) Security Officer, who can carry out low risk jobs unarmed, or armed for more valuable jobs (note: armed CIT security officers will also need to complete our Security Weapons & Defensive Tactics course for licensing purposes). Through a combination of theory and practical, you will receive training on the legalities, reporting, responsibilities and an overall introduction to the Cash In Transit industry.

For any security guards who already have obtained their licence, and only need to complete the modules to add specific functions to their licence, we also offer 1-day courses in the areas of Bodyguarding, Monitoring, and Handcuffs & Batons. Cost is $150 per module. Alternatively, complete the 4-day full Certificate III in Security Operations course which covers Bodyguarding, Monitoring, Cash-in-Transit, as well as training to prepare you for supervisory or management roles.

This course is made up of 3 units:

 

  • CPPSEC3050A Load and unload cash in transit in an unsecured environment
  • CPPSEC3051A Implement cash-in-transit security procedures
  • CPPSEC3052A Inspect and test cash-in-transit security equipment

On successful completion of this course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the 3 units as partial completion of the Certificate III in Security Operations.

 

Who Should Do This Course

Anyone wishing to work as a Cash-in-Transit Security Officer, who already has a Certificate II in Security Operations. Armed CIT Security Officers must also complete the 5-day Security Weapons and Defensive Tactics course.

Key Points

Once you have successfully completed the course, providing you are 18 years of age or older at the time of applying, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for the 3 units as a partial completion of the Certificate III in Security Operations. If you already have your Certificate II in Security Operations, you will then be eligible to apply for your Security Officer (unarmed and cash in transit) Licence for security work at jobs such as shopping centres, patrol, and cash escorts. Note: armed cash in transit security officers must also complete the 5-day Security Weapons and Defensive Tactics course, for licensing purposes.

Any criminal convictions in the past 10 years will mean you are unable to obtain your security licence. The Office of Fair Trading charges approximately $475.80 for a 1 year multi-function licence and if you already hold a current Queensland security licence, the Office of Fair Trading charges approximately $65 to add further functions to your licence, plus $38.40 for a criminal history check if you have not completed one in the past 3 months.

The fee for this 1-day course is $150.

NOTE: If you are eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee government funding, you may also be interested in completing the 4-day Certificate III in Security Operations course. This course includes the Bodyguard unit, as well as Cash-in-Transit, Monitoring and Management/Supervisory subjects. If you are eligible for this funding, the course may cost you as little as $80.

Pre-requisites

You must hold a Certificate II or III in Security Operations, we also recommend a Year 10 level (or equivalent) of English reading and writing.
