Who Should Do This Course?

On successful completion of the course, providing you are 18 years of age at the time of applying, you will receive a Certificate III in Security Operations. If you already have your Certificate II in Security Operations, you will then be eligible to apply for your Security Officer (unarmed, crowd controller, cash in transit, bodyguard and monitoring) Licence for security work such as shopping centres, patrol, monitoring, cash escorts, bodyguarding and crowd control for working in licensed venues such as nightclubs and bars, and/or events.

Key Points

To apply to obtain your security licence you need to contact the Office of Fair Trading and submit your application with the certificates from RAM Training Services. The Office of Fair Trading will charge you an additional amount for your license (approx $475 for a 1 year multi-function licence), and will conduct a criminal history check and fingerprinting prior to approval of your application. This process will take between 2 and 6 weeks.

Any criminal convictions in the last 10 years will mean you will be ineligible to receive your security licence.

  • Pay upfront unfunded fee: $900 (8 Day Course)
  • Funded concessional fee: $80
  • Funded non-concessional Fee: $100

Call us for full eligibility details and conditions.

There are no pre-requisites to complete this course, however – based on the elective units this course includes, you must have completed the Certificate II in Security Operations in order to obtain your Unarmed & Crowd Control security licence.

Alternatively, if you only wish to obtain your Unarmed & Crowd Control licence (without the CIT and Bodyguard units), you can complete our 5-day Certificate III in Security Operations course without first having had to have completed the Certificate II in Security Operations, OR our 4-day Certificate II in Security Operations.

We also recommend a Year 10 level (or equivalent) of English reading and writing.
