Who Should Do This Course?

When you have successfully completed the course, providing you are 18 years of age at the time of applying, you will receive your Certificate II and III in Security Operations. This will then make you eligible to apply for your Security Officer (unarmed, crowd controller, cash in transit, bodyguard and monitoring) Licence for security careers such as shopping centres, patrol, monitoring, cash escorts, bodyguarding and crowd control for working in licensed venues such as nightclubs and bars, and/or events.

Key Points

To apply to obtain your security licence you need to contact the Office of Fair Trading and submit your application with the certificates provided to you from RAM Training Services. The Office of Fair Trading will then charge you an additional amount for your license (approx $475.80 for a 1 year multi-function licence), and will conduct a thorough criminal history check and fingerprinting prior to approval of your application. This process will generally take between 2 and 6 weeks.

Any criminal convictions identified during the search that have taken place within the last 10 years will result in an unsuccessful application to obtain your security licence.

If you are wishing to carry out armed CIT functions, you must also complete the Security Weapons & Defensive Tactics course – click here for more info.
